Fin And High Jinks!

Enigin talks about schools and how there are now programs being set up everywhere to help them save energy; something which is sorely needed! And what a great thing this is! I remember school…just about. Ok, I don’t remember it really, but I do recall certain things and my brain makes up the rest. One of the things our class excelled at was wasting lots and lots of energy. And what did it matter? Money wasn’t important to us and you couldn’t even SEE energy, so why not waste it? Oh, the fun we had, every time the teacher walked out of the room. Switching the lights on and off for no reason at all, and turning the radiators up so they would burn the chewing gum we stuck on them, even though it was a baking hot summer. Then there were all the other naughty things we did: leaving the doors open etc…and now, when I look back on those long-long-LONG-ago days…I wonder just how much energy we wasted. And then I wonder how much money we flushed down the drain. Quite literally, too. One of our favourite games was Flush the toilets just for the sake of it. With all these fun and high jinks, it’s not particularly surprising that we are now a generation of professional-energy-wasting adults, is it? But at least with these new programs in place hopefully our children can set the record straight, and us as families might be able to redeem ourselves…eventually…
